about me!
hi! as you probably already know (hence the name of the store you are viewing right now), my name is emma- and i'm so happy that you are here!
i am born and raised in kansas city, i like to play guitar, and love talking to people. i want this business to have a welcoming and casual feel, as if you all are my friends. i'm not sure if that is relevant to the rest of this "about me" page, but i guess it's my page and i thought you guys should know. i have had a passion for art for as long as I can remember, and after years of painting for loved ones, i knew i wanted to make creating my own art more than just a hobby.
if you found me from my mom, you may know me as the kindergartener who refused to color the "state bird" on kansas day. i vividly remember being excited to color the bird- until i saw my classmate handing out kansas universitsy jayhawk coloring sheets. my mom and dad are diehard k-staters, and i threw a...well...temper tantrum. i didn't want to color the jayhawk, due to obvious reasons, and i was furious as to why that was the "state bird" (it isn't, by the way). my anger only grew stronger when i got sent to the principals office and had to skip recess over it. good thing i wasn't in trouble at home- my mom wrote about the incident on her blog and that's how her social media platform took off.
despite the humorous situation, i still had to apologize to my teacher (my mom made me). looking back, i realize how petty we were about said apology:
you know the saying: "actions speak louder than words"? i think the picture speaks louder than the words in this case.
i guess you can say my art career took off in a rather unusual manner.
i made my own style by crafting watercolor paintings with ink details, along with some occasional digital art touches. i want people to feel a sense of nostalgia when they view my paintings, as if they are in a children's picture book.
thank you so much for stopping by!
